Don't miss out on your FREE Xero mini-course ... Click Here!

When you log into Xero, the first screen you will see is the dashboard. The dashboard contains panels that display information about your business and provide links to parts of Xero, such as invoicing and bank reconciliations.

If you don’t like the layout of the dashboard, you can edit it. In this tutorial, I will use Xero’s demo company to show you how to make changes to your dashboard.

You can copy the steps taken here by using the Demo Company in your Xero account. To learn more about the basics of using Xero, please see our tutorials on Xero basics.

How to Edit the Xero Dashboard

After you log into Xero, you will see your dashboard. To make changes to it, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the Edit dashboard link:

When you click on the link, the panels on your dashboard will change. They should now have a small icon in the top left-hand corner that looks like six dots and they should have a Hide or Show link in the top right-hand corner:

How to Move the Dashboard Panels

One of the ways you can edit the dashboard is to change the order in which the panels are displayed. To do this, simply hover your mouse over the panel you want to move, click and hold your mouse button, move the panel to where you want it to go and release your mouse button.

By doing this, you can place the most important panels at the top of the screen so you see them right away when you log into Xero.

How to Show or Hide the Dashboard Panels

If you don’t want to see one of the panels at all, you can hide it. To do this, click on the Hide link on the panel when you are in edit mode for the dashboard. The Hide link will only appear if the panel is currently showing:

If you have hidden a panel that you now want to see, click on the Show link when you are in edit mode for the dashboard. The Show link will only appear if the panel is currently hidden:
