Xero Bills – How to Void a Bill

If you have created a bill in Xero that you do not need any more, you can simply void it. In this tutorial, we will void an unwanted bill in Xero’s demo company.

Purchases Section in Xero

To get started, go to Business → Purchases overview from the main menu:


Next, click on the Awaiting Payment section to see all the bills that have been created but not paid:


How to Void a Bill in Xero

For this tutorial, let’s void the first bill on the list. Click anywhere on the Heritage Trust row to open the bill:


Now click on the Bill Options button on the top right-hand side of the screen and choose Void from the list:


A pop-up box will appear asking you to confirm whether you want to void the bill. When you are ready, click OK to void the bill:


You should now see a message telling you that the bill has been voided:


Congratulations! That’s all you need to do to void a bill in Xero.
