In Xero payroll, you can edit some superannuation funds if you need to. In this tutorial, we will look at which super funds you can change and which ones you cannot change. We will then use Xero’s demo company to edit a superannuation fund that can be changed.

Superannuation in Xero’s Payroll Settings

To edit a superannuation fund, first go to the Superannuation tab of the payroll settings area:

  1. Go to Settings → Payroll in the main menu.
  2. Click on the Superannuation tab.

Locked Superannuation Funds

Some super funds in Xero cannot be edited because they are locked. If you see a padlock symbol beside the name of a superannuation fund, you will not be able to make changes to the fund.

How to Edit a Superannuation Fund

Any funds that are not locked can be edited. If you are using Xero’s demo company for this tutorial, you may not have any unlocked super funds on your list. If this is the case, please create an unlocked fund by following the steps in our tutorial on how to add a superannuation fund in Xero.

Once you have created an unlocked fund, follow these steps to edit it:

  1. Click on the three vertical dots on the right-hand side of the super fund you wish to edit.
  2. Click on Edit in the drop-down list.

In the pop-up box that opens you should see that the only detail we can change is the Employer Number. Change the number to something like 654321 and click on Update when ready.

You should now see that the change has been made.
